One week and one weekend from my last day of work at my old job, I am once more gainfully employed, with a fairly substantial raise, and at a building without any victim disarmament signs. About the same distance away, although there's a greater risk of rush hour traffic on the way depending on when they actually have me starting.
And I've used basically none of my unemployment/new gun fund. I got me some shopping to do. But first, I shall go draw things for people for money because money and drawing.
Expect a post where I lay out exactly the parts I want for second opinions now that buying them is finally going to happen. I know a moderate deal about AR-15s, but this one IS still going to be my most heavily customized, custom built for me one. I've got plans that I might do a supercompact "pistol", a 6.5 Grendal DMR, etc, but I intend for the dissipator demon to be MINE.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not a 6.5 Grendel! I have 6.8's and if you get a Grendel you'll have to hate me; and I'll have to hate you.
ReplyDeleteIt's in the EULA.
Also, you're going to need a furry outfit. They itch horridly at the range. NotthatIknowthatfromexperience... Warm in here... LOOK A MONKEY!
If I get one in both 6.8 and 6.5, does it even out? Or does the universe just start throwing rocks at me in anger and you hear about some guy killed when a meteor dropped through his ceiling on the news?
DeleteIt's between .300 BLK and 6.8 for the pistol. Only thing I know about 6.5 and 6.8 is that both are designed to have more oomph than 5.56, and 6.5 hits harder at 1k yards than 7.62x51 NATO, and I want to pretend I'm cool and have a 1000 yard arffteen. I also know that 6.5 is a bitch-and-a-half to find/afford, which is why it's ONLY for long range use (I've seen 6.8 at my various local shops, even the small ones, on multiple occasions).
Generally not big on fur, is there a scaled equivalent to the Wookie suit? Scales are sleeker and lower drag, perfect for operators operating in operational operations.
You can't own BOTH! That's like owning a Glock and a 1911; or an AK and an AR!
ReplyDeleteYou have to pick ONE and hate everyone who decided differently!
Just look at .30-06 v .280 v .270 for your template.
The furry thing is a reference to the supporters of 6.5 being like a bunch of gorrammed furries scouring the internet of any mention of 6.8 so that they can assert the 1,000 yard supremacy of their round over the 6.8.
*Checks his list of guns to get, sees the 1911 and AK on there* ......
DeleteAh. Far as I can tell the 6.8 and 6.5 are pretty much for two completely different things. Of course, that's never stopped people on the internet from furiously whinging at each other to try and justify their particular choice...
I believe I've mentioned, I'm nominally associated with the furry fandom, but I still prefer scales.
People who dress up as furrys and goddamned furries are unrelated near as I can determine.
DeleteI really don't understand the animosity over 6.8 v 6.5. Or Glock v 1911 (I got both). I think you nailed it, 6.5 and 6.8 were developed for different purposes; but they competed for the same marketplace as an alternate AR round. There's a ton of overlap at most practical ranges and the differences are quite a ways to the right of the decimal place most of the time.
